10 Fun Things You Can’t Miss At Science Museum Oklahoma
The Planetarium
We loved the planetarium! What I loved most is that my third grader was able to correlate things he’s currently learning in school to facts presented during the live show. The live show was very interesting. The dim lights and comfortable chairs provided a great escape to get closer to the stars. This is an experience that can’t be missed.
It’s also a new and engaging way to experience the stars. Everything from the solar system will be explored! The great thing is that this show is included in your admission. I also love that it runs pretty frequently, at the top of each hour. The show is also the perfect length to keep you entertained without boring you.
Segway
Who doesn’t like riding a segway!? The setup of their segway course is a great way to introduce the art of riding to first time riders. This was my kids first time riding one and it was a completely safe first experience for them. There is a staff member on duty in front of your segway at all times guiding you.
They also have a fun obstacle course if you’re interested in kicking things up a notch! This was truly a fun hands-on way to explore science. My family got a ton of laughs!
The Kidspace
If you have younger children, do not miss the KidSpace. It’s a great place for them to roam and explore perfectly sized exhibits for their age group. Designed for their tiny fingers and youthful minds, KidSpace is undoubtedly an age appropriate way for them to experience science in a hands-on way.
Mirror Maze
Normally, you will see a mirror maze at your local carnival. But, what a great addition to the science museum. It is a quick but fun way to laugh, display team work and bond with your family. The mirror maze is located on the main level near the Planetarium so you can’t miss it! Can you find your way out?
Science Live
The fun shows are held in the museum’s auditorium and is included in your admission. There are three show offerings that may just blow your mind! Go see the Physics Show, Explosion Show or the Science Show. You can even go see all three!
The Physics show is the quietest show of them all. With a focus on matter and energy, its perfect for families with younger children. The Explosion Show is probably the loudest of them all. Watch as their Scientists perform some unique experiments. The Science Show puts new twists on traditional science demonstrations as you explore the world of science.
Showtimes aren’t that frequent so be sure to check the schedule before you go.With so many options, which show will you choose?
CurioCity
CurioCity is just a world of it’s own. With eight distinctive neighborhoods its a total blast! This was our favorite area of the science museum! The whimsical feel you get from this 20,000-square-feet village is fun for the whole family. Science is learned in a ton of exciting new ways and every inch is quite engaging. Every neighborhood provided so much educational value. Who knew that learning could be so much fun!
Every sense will be intrigued, as you move, test, investigate, design, discover, observe and so much more!
Tornado Simulator
This is so fun! Try not to get blown away as you step into this simulator that gives you a first hand feel for what its like to be in a real tornado. Wind gust up to 78 MPH. Imagine that! It’s definitely on my list of things that can’t be missed at Science Museum Oklahoma. The kids will be so intrigued.
Power Play
My daughter loves to tumble and my son loves to run. This was the perfect area for them! With running simulations, gymnast equipment and floor mats, my daughter had a blast doing back hand springs and my son loved challenging his sister to the running simulator to see who runs the fastest. This is the perfect area for kids of all ages to burn off some of their energy. Your strength, balance, stamina and speed will be tested. Are you ready?
Big Game Theory
If you love games, don’t miss the opportunity to play giant size versions of your classic favorites, such as, chess and checkers. Head to the second level for this fun experience and challenge your family members to some game time. This is such a fun addition to the museum and one that surely shouldn’t be missed.
Gardens
Want to giver your brain a rest? Head outdoors to the museum’s garden! Explore nature, play games or eat lunch at one of the many picnic tables. It’s the perfect green space to relax and break up your visit. They even offer a gardening program called What’s Growing on. This program will help you learn all about the art of gardening.
The great thing is that access to the garden is included in your admission and can be accessed the cafe doors or the south central side of the science floor.
