National Eat Your Veggies Day is June 17th!
What better way to celebrate than by having some fun with your veggies. If you’re anything like me, you adore all these national food holidays. I never miss a reason to have fun with my family while eating, two of my favorite things to do! Can you relate?
I know all too well about the struggle to trade in the pizza, ice cream and burgers for healthier options. If only for one day, let’s have fun at least trying!

9 Fun Ways To Celebrate National Eat Your Veggies Day
GET IN THE GARDEN
A sure way to celebrate this healthy holiday is by getting in your garden. Take some time to tend to the garden as a family. This is the perfect opportunity to plant some new vegetables. I’m sure the kids will have a blast selecting their favorite veggie to plant. I also wouldn’t miss this opportunity to educate the kids on the importance of healthy eating and growing your own produce.
VISIT A FARMERS MARKET
One of my family’s favorite thing to do is visit our local farmers market. We always have such a blast tasting, touching and smelling all the healthy goodness. By visiting your local farmers market, not only will you snag some great deals but you are also supporting hometown businesses with locally grown products.
TRY A NEW RECIPE
It’s always exciting to try new recipes. Switching things up is good! Maybe you always bake your carrots. If so, find tasty recipes that will help you grill or boil them instead. You can apply this to any vegetable. Take your favorite and switch it up!
HAVE A VEGETABLE TASTING
Hosting a vegetable tasting for your family sounds likes a blast! You can showcase five vegetables that your family have never tasted or don’t eat often. Take turns trying them one by one and be sure to get everyone’s opinions.
BLEND UP A VEGGIE SMOOTHIE
I love a good smoothie! I love how easy and quick they are to make. Earlier this year I posted some easy smoothie recipes that kids can make. Let your kids get in the kitchen with you and blend their favorite veggies up in a delicious smoothie. This is a great way to celebrate National Eat Your Veggies Day for sure!
EDUCATE YOURSELF
Why not spend this food holiday learning more about vegetables!?! Take the time as a family to do some research. Get some answers to those unanswered questions. Give the kids a little age appropriate lesson. This can be done by taking a trip to the libarary. They have plenty of books in this area. Google and YouTube are other great resources! Happy Learning!
FRIENDSHIP SALAD PLAYDATE
Playdates are always a ton of fun! Keeping on trend, you can host a friendship salad playdate. Have each family bring a different vegetable to add to the salad. You all can then gather around, have each family add their veggie and then give everything a good mix while you laugh and chat over a crisp, yet healthy salad! Sounds like my kind of party!
ONE DAY VEGGIE DETOX
Dedicate this one day to eating vegetables only! This is such a rewarding sacrifice. With proper planning your family won’t even be able to tell that they’re missing out on their normal eats. With all the great benefits, I could definitely see myself celebrating National Eat Your Veggies Day like this with no problem!
