I received Complimentary Wet’n’Wild SplashTown Admission for myself and my family in exchange for this post. All opinions are my own.
What’s your favorite way to cool off in the summer? I don’t know about you but I can’t survive the extreme summer temperatures without making a splash!
That’s why I’m taking to the streets of Houston, TX to find the best ways for you to cool off with your family this summer. Stop number one, Wet’n’Wild SplashTown! They are one of the top water parks in the Houston, Texas area. Summer in Houston would be unbearable without the water to give us a break from the intense Texas heat. That’s why I’m kicking off this series right in our own backyard. I’m giving you all the information you need to go have a successful experience with your family.
Wet’n’Wild SplashTown is Houston’s largest and closest water park. It is conveniently located less than 30 minutes from Downtown Houston. This is great because you don’t have to travel far to feel like you’re on vacation!
This past Sunday my family and I had a very successful visit as first-timers. It’s truly something for people of all ages to do. There are thrill rides, kids rides and family rides too. We absolutely had a blast and we can’t wait to return! Keep reading to see what my favorite ride is….
Make A Splash This Summer!
Our Experience
Sunday, we got to the water park right at opening. There were already cars parked and people heading towards the gate. My advice, get there early for the best selection of everything! We were still able to snag a great close parking spot and great shady seating. We were able to get situated and relax before the midday rush. Also, we were thrilled that the lines were really moderate. The hardest choice you will have to make when you step inside Wet’n’Wild SplashTown is deciding what area of the water park to go to first.
I had a moment to lay across the lounge chair, close my eyes and just listen. It was the most peaceful moment ever! Try it, if only for a second. Let the sound of splashing water, tiny giggles, and endless laughter take you away. Trust me, you won’t want to be any place else. I loved that the water park wasn’t over crowded. That made for a really peaceful experience.
There are many cool thrills that end in a large depth of water. As a result, you must be a strong swimmer. For these, we cheered my husband on from the sidelines as he swung from a rope into 10ft of water and slid from the high slide at Wala Wala Falls into the same depth. We even got some good laughs at his expense as he attempted the FlowRider! It was an epic fail but the memories will last a lifetime.
As promised, my favorite ride was the Tornado! It was fast, you don’t get completely soaked and it was fun! I loved that it was a family ride, that seats four. I have much more fun riding things like this with my family.
My Husband’s favorite ride was the Brain Drain! He loved how the bottom goes from under your feet sending you on a free fall that was a fast ride of twist and turns before landing in a shallow stream of water. He is still talking about that ride today! Next to the Brain Drain was Texas Freefall. No one from my family was daring enough to try it, maybe next time!
My Tween’s favorite ride was the Alien Chaser! She loved the speed, dark tunnels, the drench on a hot day and the fact that you get to ride with one other daring person!
My son, the 8-year-old non-swimmer had just as much fun as my daughter, the 11-year-old swimmer. This further confirms that this place is indeed kid and tween approved! Young children have their own separate space with small slides, splash pads, shallow water and climbing structures. My son loved the lazy river and kept dragging me back every change he got. He also found great joy at the interactive Wet’n’Wild Jr. and over at the Tree House which is three stories of awesomeness! I was not concerned about our safety at all during our visit as the lifeguard staff was extremely attentive to the safety of the guests in the water at all times.
We set up our relaxation right at the Wild Wave Pool. This is where we spent most of our time. This is also where we found the biggest crowd throughout the day! Grab a seat and get comfortable.
