INCLUDE THEIR PEERS
You can only hold the fun parent title for so long before your tween is bored and ready for the next best thing! The best way to entertain your tween this spring is to grab your child’s BFF or a family member who is their age and allow them to partake in the fun. I’ve found that when my tween has someone her own age around she stays entertained much longer. Whether you are having a chill day at home or a fun day on the go, invite their peer to tag along and you’ll surely beat boredom this spring with your tween.
The best way to arrange this is to plan ahead. Schedule a specific day with a specific activity in mind and reach out to their parent in advance. However, their may be circumstances where no notice can be given and this is perfectly okay as long as the child is available. You can be grocery shopping, taking a trip to the library, headed to dinner or feeding your need for speed with go kart racing just be sure to include their peers and your tween will have the best Spring yet!
GET OUTDOORS
The best part about spring is that the days are longer and the weather gets a little warmer and more consistent. These are the best times to head outdoors! Spring is beautiful because the temps are just right and nature is easy on the eye. You no longer have to witness your child dying of boredom from being stuck indoors because its so cold outside. Get outdoors! Check out an outdoor concert, an outdoor movie, take a trip to the park, go for a walk, or head to the beach. Whatever you do the answer to keeping your tween entertained this spring is just this simple.
ENROLL THEM IN ACTIVITIES
Spring is the perfect time to enroll your tween in some extracurricular activities! A swim class in preparation for all the time they will spend in the pool over the summer is ideal. Maybe your tween son has been looking forward to some outdoor sports like football or soccer. There are tons of camps at your disposal that a little research will help to surface and of course your daughter may want to commensurate spring with an arts n craft class. These scheduled classes is sure to keep their schedule full and their curiosity entertained this spring!
Be sure to check your local parks and recreation website as there are many free activities offered throughout the community. The YMCA is also a good place to start!
HAVE SOME FAMILY FUN
While tween’s are all about hanging out with their friends, I know that deep down they still enjoy the time spent with their family. Pencil in some family time on your calendar. Plan a BBQ and invite the entire family over. Whip up a big Sunday dinner and extend some invites.
KB’s unconventional work schedule doesn’t always allow him to be present for the fun. So when he finally has a day off and we do things as a family the kids are always super happy! This confirms that a day out for some family fun will be a huge part of the special memories your tween’s hold when they look back on spring time.
SOCIAL MEDIA WORTHY ADVENTURES
Its no secret that tween’s are obsessed with the latest social media trends, such as, Snap Chat and Musical.ly! As a result, the greatest way to keep them entertained is to take them on some social media worthy adventures. Of course they want to snap their day at the beach or that awesome freak shake with cotton candy exploding from the top. You have to meet your tween’s where they are!
Niah loves Musical.ly, so when we travel she loves creating new dance videos in front of some of the cool street art we encounter. She loves to create boomerangs in the pool or snap pics of the awesome views from our hotel rooms. To be honest these trendy moments keep her entertained for quite some time! So if you’re struggling to beat boredom with your tween this spring get out and explore unique eats, treats, events and scenery!
SHOP TIL YOU DROP
What tween doesn’t like to shop? Every time i’m with my tween she has her hand out for something. Whether we are at the dollar store or the mall I can’t escape the shrieks of excitement. You can take your tween out to spend their hard earned allowance or give them five dollars and let them run rampant in the dollar store! Imagine how much slime supplies they can buy with that. Slime making is all the rage with kids these days and my daughter never misses a chance to remind as she blows her money on glue every chance she gets.
With Spring in motion the dollar store has so many great purchases that will surely keep your tween entertained. From bubbles, jump ropes, water guns, hula hoops, and sidewalk chalk to gardening supplies, baseball sets and badminton. Take your pick!

My girl is just 5, but these ideas are great for her, too. She loves to be outside. I take her to the store with a few dollars and let her pick out chalk, bubbles, etc. and she has hours of fun at home. Our outside cats love to chase bubbles with her.
