I received complimentary Pleasure Pier admission for myself and my family in exchange for this post. However, all Opinions are my own.
Have you ever been to Pleasure Pier? If not, you’re surely missing out!
It’s one of Galveston’s most popular attractions. Boasting with cool rides, good eats, retail shops and fun midway games the thrill is hard to past up! You can spot this colorful display of adventure miles away as you ride up Seawall Blvd.
Right off the Gulf of Mexico, it’s something about it’s perfect location that draws you in. With some of the best views of the beach and crashing waves it’s definitely a recommended way to spend a day out with your family.
Sunday, my family had the opportunity to visit Pleasure Pier for some much needed pre-birthday fun for myself and we had a blast! There is something for everyone, kids and adults alike.
So if you’re looking for the best way to experience Galveston Island Historic Pleasure Pier, let me tell you how!
Suggestions To Make Your Trip Better:
Make It A Day Trip
Grab your family and make it a day trip! You can’t hang out in Galveston and not visit the beach. So, start your day at Pleasure Pier and opt for the all day ride pass, grab lunch and then head to the beach for some much needed fun in the sun. After you’ve gotten your beach fix, head back to Pleasure Pier for round two! It’s a beautiful experience at night because its a lit up. The best part is that if you visit on a Sunday, now until September 2, 2018 you can take advantage of the firework display that takes place right over the Gulf of Mexico. It’s a short distance away at Seawall and 27th Street.
Trust me when I say that Pleasure Pier has the best seat in the house to catch the fireworks show! Imagine the crisp night air, the relaxing sound of waves crashing in the background and the sky lit up in the most beautiful way all from the seat of a thrill ride. If you are not daring enough, no problem! Grab a seat and enjoy the show, that’s what we did.
Purchase The All-Day Ride Pass
I think that it only makes sense to purchase the all day ride pass. This is especially beneficial for those of us who can ride everything. The Pier offers 16 awesome rides to choose from. You can ride them as much as you like with the all day ride pass. I advise checking the height minimums before purchasing tickets to determine if it will be beneficial for your family.
My family had all day ride pass during our visit and it was the best thing for us. Niah and KJ love riding their favorite rides over and over again. The lines were short so this made their normal agenda really easy. We left to spend some time on the beach and we were able to return with no problems because the band is good all day.
Keep in mind that you do not need a Pier walk on pass if you purchase this option!
No Lockers Needed
I wouldn’t waste my time purchasing a locker. Every ride we went on had bins for you to store your belongings while you were on the ride. This option makes it really convenient so save your money! However, if you choose to purchase one, they are located right at the front of the Pier as soon as you gain entry.
Check Ride Height Minimums In Advance
Planning out your visit in advance saves you time and money. Checking the height minimums is no exception! This allows you to see what admission options will work best for your family. Also, it helps you map out your ride plan. Nothing is like walking up to the gate and having to disappoint your child because they are too short to experience the ride. Checking ride minimums will help you prep your child beforehand on what they can and can’t ride in advance.
If you decide to just go with the flow, there is a height measurement tool right at the ticket counter. Thankfully, my two were tall enough to ride everything and they sure didn’t miss the opportunity to do just that!
Don’t Forget Your Sunscreen
While there are some shady areas on the pier to take advantage of, there is still a fare share of sun contact so don’t forget to apply your sunscreen! Nothing will make this day trip more miserable then leaving with sunburn. We want happy memories only!
Come Picture Ready
Get your smile ready! As soon as you enter, there are photographer’s present grabbing pictures of your group. After all the snapping is done you are given a ticket to visit the photo booth at your leisure to review it. There are also a ton of other photo opportunities that you don’t want to miss throughout the pier, so smile big and make sure you have a full camera battery!
Ride Pirate’s Plunge Last
Pirate’s Plunge is Pleasure Pier’s one and only water ride. As a by passer you better hurry up or you just might get wet! It’s a great way to cool off on a hot summer day but in my opinion make it your last ride just before heading to the beach. It’s always uncomfortable walking around in wet clothing trying to seek other thrills. Saving this gem for last will have you already drenched and ready to hit the beach!
Our Favorite Rides:
- Iron Shark Roller Coaster – I won’t give too much away but the beginning is the best part!
- Texas Star Flyer – The views are amazing and unmatched!
