Hello Austin! We’re always looking for an opportunity to travel. Slowly, weekend getaways are easily becoming our favorite. Why? Because, you can take them more often and most times they are more cost effective. This weekend we took a short road trip to Austin, just because! We got just the right amount of sun and fun.
Here’s a look at our weekend in Pictures…..
FRIDAY
We checked into our hotel Friday evening at the Double Tree By Hilton hotel. My favorite part about the Double Tree is their complimentary, infamous warm cookies! We received great customer service during our stay. After getting settled in we headed out to dinner at Lucy’s Fried Chicken. Three words: Fried Deviled Eggs! They were delicious.

SATURDAY
After getting dressed we took a tour of the hotel and snapped some cool photos along the way. Then we headed out for brunch at the Rolling Rooster. Their chicken is amazing! We then headed to Aldrich St. right near the Thinkery to take in the cool scenery. We caught some great photo opportunities.
We heard great things about Amy’s Ice cream so we headed there for a sweet treat afterwards. Realizing that down time is important we ventured back to the hotel for some poolside relaxation and fun! Later that evening after getting dressed we headed to The Domain for a late evening stroll outdoors where we took in the sights and let the kids run and play against the crisp night air. The kid’s caught a great photo with their giant Christmas tree! For dinner we opted for Maggiano’s just across the way.
SUNDAY
After a quick bite to eat we headed out on our street art hunt! I love street art and it’s one thing that I must see on every trip I take. After we exhausted our time, we headed to the Lone Star Riverboat for our tour reservation. It was a nice, sunny day to cruise the Lady Bird River. After our tour we bid a farewell to Austin and headed back home to Houston.
I love Austin! My favorite thing about Austin is the array of outdoorsy things to do as well as the the art & culture and eats! Can you tell!?! We always have such a great time when we visit and I love that it’s such a short distance from Houston. The route is very scenic which makes the couple of hours fly by. As a result, we’re looking forward to our next visit!
